Parrs FAQs

Below we answer our most frequent questions.

Ruler Foot

Do I need a Parrs ruler foot?

Yes, a ruler foot is essential as they are designed to fit perfectly our rulers within the channel.

The width of the foot is 1/2 inch and the depth is 5mm. The foot’s raised design ensures stability and prevents slipping, making it easier to create intricate patterns and smooth lines. Additionally, it protects both your rulers and your sewing machine from damage, ensuring a smoother quilting experience overall.

Can I use a darning or free motion foot instead?

While a darning foot or free motion foot can be used for free motion quilting, they don't offer the same precision and stability as a ruler foot when working with quilting rulers.

A ruler foot is specifically designed with a raised edge to glide along the ruler's edge, ensuring your stitches follow the intended path exactly. Using a darning or free motion foot may result in less accuracy and control, especially when attempting more intricate designs. If you plan to use rulers for precise patterns, a ruler foot is the better choice.
